New Publication !  May 2022

It has taken a while to get this together but our first effort is now in print:

Report on the Mission to Brazil to Research the Cultivation and Preparation of Tea by Antoine Guillemin. A mouthful of a title. This seemed like a good one to get started with. It reports on efforts by the French to establish a tea growing industry in their homeland. The mission takes place from 1838 to 1839 when western countries were becoming more involved in the tea trade. At the time, China essentially held a monopoly on tea supplies. Brazil had made efforts early in the 18th century to establish a tea growing industry. Dr. Guillemin was sent to learn about that industry and collect plant material to bring back to France. The book is enhanced by including two additional reports written by Brazilian tea growers active around the time of the report. Each report is thorough and gives practical information on growing and making tea . Tea drinkers who enjoy learning about the history of tea, and other enthusiast interested in how tea was made, should find the information presented in the book of great interest. The book can be ordered through your local bookstore. The ISBN is: 978-1-952432-00-2. It is $16.95 (US).

Past Publication

16 oz Asheville

Our first work from 2019 was a zine-hybrid. It consisted of three sheets of printer paper, ½ sheet of card stock, two staples and the imprint from a handmade decorative stamp. It contained pre-pandemic information on 79 places in and around Asheville, NC where you can get a cup of coffee. The motivation was to catalog who had coffee, whose coffee they served and how much a cup of coffee to go would cost. So much has changed since that information was compiled. We are still drinking coffee but a couple of favorite shops have closed (a couple of really great places have opened up), getting a refill in your own cup is no longer allowed and prices are a moving target. An update is order but we probably won’t get around to it until 2023. Stay tuned.
